Worshipful Master
MASTER’S MESSAGE June 2006
Brethren:
The Grand Lodge convention in Atlantic City this year was productive, and pleasurable to attend. Visiting Grand Masters from other countries and states were in attendance, adding to the importance of the meeting. Masonic Charity was evident in abundance through the many Masonic organizations doing the work, raising money, and making sure it is well-spent. We can all be proud of the work and selfless sacrifice of these Masonic brothers. Our fraternity gave out thousands of dollars in scholarships to the children of Masons. With the needs of so many parents working to see their children “have a shot” at earning a living, I am surprised that our candidate list and member attendance isn’t greater. The scholarships given out annually are just one of the rights and benefits available to children of all brothers. Having had a child with dyslexia, I can appreciate the work of the Scottish Rite in having found successful ways to help these boys and girls. The Shrine’s work with burn victims is well-known, yet most don’t realize it is part of the Masonic family. Yes, we can all be proud of the members of a meaningful fraternity that is much more than self, fun, or politics – a fraternity that is about integrity, values, and sacrifice. It is said that nothing worthwhile is easy, and what is worthwhile is a satisfaction to us.
Have a great summer, and I hope to see you all in the Fall.
Fraternally yours,
Michael Karsen
Worshipful Master
